Our clinic provides “in-chair whitening” or dentist assisted whitening and also home kits for at home whitening.
In chair-whitening typically takes an hour or more and is done in the dental chair. Results are usually more immediate than at-home whitening, however results obtained vary between individuals.
At-home whitening is performed by the patient themselves, although the dentist will still need to take an impression and a customized whitening tray will be made to fit your particular teeth. A customized tray is advantageous as it will allow you to use less whitening gel in the long run and thus save costs. At home whitening gels are less concentrated than the in-chair whitening gels, thus they will take a bit longer to get a result.
Different people will take different amounts of times to see a result they are happy with – as there are many variables such as the patient’s tooth type, the patient’s diet and lifestyle (multiple cups of coffee or “teh si kaw” per day? Red wine? Smoker?). The patient may also adjust their regimen to suit their needs, for example if they have sensitive teeth, they may apply the gel less frequently, or slightly shorter than the recommended time.
