Our dentists are also able to advise and do treatment for dental crowns and bridges.
A crown is a cap or covering for a tooth. It is used when your tooth is cracked or broken, heavily filled, or if a conventional filling is not retentive enough.
There are two type of crowns:
Porcelein fused to metal (pic) which is cheaper
And Full Porcelein crowns (Pic) which is more expensive but more esthetic looking. We normally advice you to choose a full porcelain crown instead of a PFM crown for your front teeth if your budget permits!
A dental bridge is basically crowns fused together, spanning the gap left by a missing or extracted tooth. A ceramic tooth is fused between two or more porcelain crowns on either side of the missing tooth that serve as anchors. The anchor teeth (teeth on either side) are trimmed down and shaped to accommodate the crowns, and then a bridge is bonded securely onto these anchor teeth.
